Dover Hill is proud to offer the AWANA program for children.  AWANA is a scripture-
based program for children from preschool through eighth grade.  The name comes from
2 Timothy 2:15 and is an acrostic for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed”.
AWANA’s main focus is on the memorization and application of scripture.
It is a fun-oriented and fast paced program that keeps kids coming back weekly and is
incentive-oriented as you might see with a scouting program.  Each student receives a
uniform/shirt.  As kids participate in a variety of activities they receive awards, badges,
ect.  Students also receive a book appropriate to their level.  They are quizzed on their
weekly progress and their leader signs off as they complete a task.
Each AWANA meeting consists or 3 main segments.  One, game time.  Two, small
group time.  Three, large group Time.  AWANA takes place on Wednesday nights from
6:30 to 7:45 PM.  The program follows the school schedule and does not run during the
summer time.
